Plastic cam buckle straps made with lightweight polypropylene webbing can be used for any indoor or outdoor light duty application. Lightweight polypropylene webbing has excellent UV protection, and does not absorb water readily give it better resistance to mildew and rot. However, polypropylene webbing has poor abrasion resistance, so we recommend not using this material against rough edges. Please note that the 3/4 inch, 1 inch, and 1 1/2 inch plastic cam buckles will only work with lightweight polypropylene webbing. You can use them as belts, sleeping bag ties in backpacking, and much more. Use your imagination. A guide line for finding a safe working load is to take the breaking strength and divide it by one third. For example, Strapworks’ lightweight polypropylene webbing 2 inch has a breaking strength of 1200 pounds, so a safe working load is 400 pounds. You also need to consider your hardware and stitching.
