| The hardware on these belts/straps are also known as slides or tri-slides.
These belts/straps are typically used to hold up your pants, however they are not limited to that. They can also be used for securing straps for books, wood, utility cords, tools, plant stalks, etc. Heavyweight or lightweight polypropylene and flat nylon webbing is the most common used material for these belts/straps. For a belt that is lighter in weight we recommend polypro, and for one that is heavier, flat nylon.
Metal hardware varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, so we highly recommend that you contact them directly. Polypropylene webbing is great for the outdoors because of its excellent UV protection and it does not absorb water quickly giving it resistance to rot & mildew. However, it does not have a high abrasion rate. Flat nylon on the other hand is preferred for its strength and soft touch. Unlike the polypro, it does have an excellent abrasion resistance. Nylon does absorb water quickly giving it a higher risk of rot & mildew when being used in or around water.
Belt sizes are as follows: Regular: up to 38” waist (48” in length)
Large: up to 48” waist (60” in length)
XLarge up to 60” waist (72” in length)
To shorten, simply cut the end with scissors and melt the end with a lighter.
These can also double as a quick tie-down strap or lashing in a pinch. |
