Our straps made with Flat Nylon Webbing are colorful, durable, and soft to the touch. Our 1" nylon webbing comes in at 3500 lb test. This is, in general, much more than the buckles. However, the extra thickness provides an extra degree of abrasion resistance. The possible drawbacks of nylon webbing are...
1. Nylon can stretch when wet-although in a 6' strap this is not significant, it is possible that a strap can loosen up and an s-hook to lose its attachment point. You should examine nylon straps every 60 miles or so (every hour of travel) to tighten and/or adjust.
2. Nylon webbing can absorb moisture. When you go to put your straps away, they should be hung so they can air dry appropriately. If you throw them in a sack or in a pile, you run the risk of having mold and mildew develop. This can eventually ruin the strap.
