Side Release Buckle Strap made with Flat Nylon Webbing 1-1/2 inch. Flat nylon webbing 1-1/2 inch has a breaking strength of 4250 pounds with a thickness of 0.070 to 0.075 of an inch. Plastic side release buckles are not rated.

Side Release Buckle Straps, like plastic cam buckle straps, these straps are for light duty applications. Strapworks' offers two styles, the first style is a single adjust buckle the webbing sew on to the female side of the buckle and the male side allows adjustment of the strap. The second style is a double adjust buckle where both sides are adjustable because the webbing is not sewn on to the buckle. Side release buckle straps are used for belts, containment, lashing straps, etc. A strap is only as strong as its weakest link. A guide line for finding a safe working load is to take the breaking strength and divide it by one third. For example, Strapworks’ flat nylon webbing 1-1/2 inch has a breaking strength of 4250 pounds, so a safe working load is 1416 pounds. You also need to calculate your safe working load for your buckles and your stitching. When in doubt, buy 1 strap and test it for your application. Side Release Buckle Straps made with flat nylon webbing is the webbing of choice for high abrasion applications. Flat nylon has an excellent breaking strength, however, it is not recommended for use in or around water continuously because it is less water resistant, making it susceptible to mildew and rot. Flat nylon can also stretch up to 2% of it's length when saturated.

Side Release Buckle Straps made with patterned polyester webbing are perfect for heavy loads with high abrasion. Polyester has the best attributes of flat nylon (abrasion resistance) and heavyweight polypropylene (UV protection, water resistance).

Strapworks’ "Patterned Polyester" is polyester that has been sublimated. Sublimation is a process that virtually tattoos the ink into the webbing by turning a solid ink into a permeating gas. This process is done in house and it allows for great detail and vivid custom colorfast colors. Polyester is the only material we carry that is consistent in its ability to be sublimated.

Side Release Buckle Straps made with heavyweight polypropylene webbing are suitable for light duty outdoor applications. Heavyweight polypropylene webbing has excellent UV protect and does not absorb water quickly giving it better better resistant to mildew and rot resistance. However, polypropylene does not have good abrasion resistance, so it is not recommended for use against rough edges.

Side Release Buckle Straps made with lightweight polypropylene webbing can be used for any indoor or outdoor light duty application. Lightweight polypropylene webbing has excellent UV protection, and does not absorb water readily give it better resistance to mildew and rot. However, polypropylene webbing has poor abrasion resistance, so we recommend not using this material against rough edges.
