Metal Cam Straps made with 1-1/2 inch Patterned Polyester Webbing. Patterned Polyester webbing 1-1/2 inch has a breaking strength of 4971 pounds with a thickness of 0.060 of an inch.
Polyester is the best strap webbing, by far, whether you need cargo management, trailer tie downs, ATV and motorcycle straps, or just straps for river rafting. We introduced these straps in 1998 as a high strength option and a recommended replacement material for nylon. Nylon stretches when wet, bleeds color like crazy, and has poor UV resistance. Except for abrasion resistance, even HW polypro is a better choice. BUT, for the ideal cam strap, coupling polyester with a great cam buckle is a "no brainer". Add in the choice of infinite colors and patterns (through our no-minimum custom program) and you truly do have the ideal cam strap. The most common use for cam straps is as a strap used to tie down or secure heavy loads, typically on trailers or in the bed of trucks. Cam buckle straps may be considered the "duct tape" of the strap world, but they do have limitations. A strap is only as strong as its weakest link. A guideline for finding a safe working load is to take the breaking strength and divide it by one third. For example, Strapworks’ patterned polyester webbing 1-1/2 inch has a breaking strength of 4971 pounds, so a safe working load is 1657 pounds. BUT, you also need to consider your hardware and stitching. Your cam buckle option includes: standard 1-1/2 inch (1200 pounds). You also need to calculate your safe working load for your stitching. Strapworks always engineers the stitching to at least meet the next weakest link (typically the buckle). When in doubt, buy 1 strap and test it for your application.
Please keep in mind the characteristics of the different types of webbing when ordering straps.
Cam Straps made with patterned polyester webbing are perfect for heavy loads with high abrasion. Polyester has the best attributes of flat nylon (abrasion resistance) and heavyweight polypropylene (UV protection, water resistance).
Strapworks’ "Patterned Polyester
" is polyester that has been sublimated. Sublimation is a process that virtually tattoos the ink into the webbing by turning a solid ink into a permeating gas. This process is done in house and it allows for great detail and vivid custom colorfast colors. Polyester is the only material we carry that is consistent in its ability to be sublimated.
Cam Straps made with flat nylon webbing
are a good choice for high abrasion applications. It is not recommended for use in or around water continuously because it is less water resistant, making it susceptible to mildew and rot.
The sublimation process may take an extra 2-3 days to fulfill your order.

Choosing the Buckle Pad option will add a sewn section of
Black Heavyweight Polypropylene under the buckle area to protect anything
beneath it from scratching.
