Description Technical Specs

Ratchet Strap made with 2 inch Flat Nylon Webbing.

Coming soon, a picture of a Ratchet Strap made with 2 inch Patterned Polyester Webbing. The picture above is a Ratchet Strap made with 2 inch Flat Nylon Webbing. Patterned Polyester webbing 2 inch has a breaking strength of 6566 pounds with a thickness of 0.060 of an inch.

2" ratchet straps are most often used for securing loads to trailers, rooftop carriers, etc. The ratchet buckle allows you to tighten the strap with ease. A quick release mechanism means you don't have to worry about releasing tension when you want. The 2" ratchet straps are very heavy duty. With this 2" tie down strap, you are ordering the ratchet strap made of 2 inch patterned polyester webbing. Patterned polyester webbing has high abrasion resistance that works well for the above applications. A strap is only as strong as its weakest link. A guide line for finding a safe working load is to take the breaking strength and divide it by one third. For example, Strapworks’ patterned polyester webbing 2 inch has a breaking strength of 6566 pounds, so a safe working load is 2188 pounds. You also need to consider your hardware and stitching. The 2 inch Ratchet Buckle is not rated. You also need to calculate your safe working load for your buckles and your stitching. When in doubt, buy 1 strap and test it for your application. To see the technical specs for the 2 inch Ratchet buckle, please click here. You have the option to include a buckle pad sewn on the strap. Your choice of end hardware includes: Coated S-Hooks, Coated Safety S-Hooks, Wire Hooks 2 inch, O-Rings, Stainless Steel S-Hooks Uncoated.
Please keep in mind the characteristics of the different types of webbing when ordering straps.
Polyester ratchet straps are perfect for heavy loads with high abrasion. Polyester has the best attributes of flat nylon (abrasion resistance) and heavyweight polypropylene (UV protection, water resistance).

Strapworks’ "Patterned Polyester" is polyester that has been sublimated. Sublimation is a process that virtually tattoos the ink into the webbing by turning a solid ink into a permeating gas. This process is done in house and it allows for great detail and vivid custom colorfast colors. Polyester is the only material we carry that is consistent in its ability to be sublimated.

Ratchet straps made with flat nylon webbing is the webbing of choice for high abrasion applications. It is not recommended for use in or around water continuously because it is less water resistant, making it susceptible to mildew and rot.
Ratchet Straps made with heavyweight polypropylene webbing are suitable for medium duty outdoor applications. Heavyweight polypropylene webbing has excellent UV protect and does not absorb water quickly giving it better better resistant to mildew and rot resistance. However, polypropylene does not have good abrasion resistance, so it is not recommended for use against rough edges.
The sublimation process may take an extra 2-3 days to fulfill your order. For more information on sublimation and custom designed straps, please email custom@strapworks.com.

Choosing the Buckle Pad option will add a sewn section of Black Heavyweight Polypropylene under the buckle area to protect anything beneath it from scratching.
