Description

Flat nylon webbing is great for high abrasion applications, or for use with larger buckles with higher breaking strengths. It is ideally suited for leashes, collars, leads, ratchet straps, D-ring belts, etc. Nylon webbing is not particularly good in applications around water. Nylon stretches when it gets wet, so a nylon strap will not stay tight in the rain or on a river trip. Also, nylon absorbs water quickly causing rot & mildew if not dried properly. Please note that all Polyester webbing sold under Flat Nylon is Colorfast, meaning it will not bleed.

1 Inch Flat Nylon facts:
  • Thickness of 0.070 to 0.075 of an inch
  • Breaking strength of 3000 pounds
  • Melting point of 480 degrees fahrenheit
  • Available in 32 colors
Flat nylon 1 inch works great for medium to heavy duty applications.  Please keep in mind that once the webbing is made into a strap with a piece of hardware, it's working load is based on the weakest point of the strap.  For more information or suggestions on this material, send an email to support@strapworks.com.
Flat nylon webbing is also available in 3/8 inch, 1/2 inch, 5/8 inch, 3/4 inch, 1-1/2 inch, and 2 inch widths. Other nylon webbing options include: flat nylon tape 1/2 inch, 1 inch, military flat nylon 3/4 inch, 1 inch, 1-3/4 inch, mil spec 4088 1 inch, and scuba webbing made with nylon 1-7/8 inch.
All of our webbing is sold by the foot. All quantity discounts are based on webbing the same size, but they can be different colors. Textures may vary in stiffness and weave.

Company, Quality, Variety, Info, Price, Service January 13, 2009
Reviewer: Bruce Oliver from Elk Grove, CA United States
Nylon is reputed to stretch & lose strength when wet, but my experience shows that is not until you exceed 1/3 of breaking-strength.
Unfortunately, this rep for stretch & weakness has caused nylon webbing to become relatively unavailable compared with polypropolyne, which I don't understand, because poly can't withstand UV in direct sunlight for even one season; whereas nylon is unaffected.
I'm so thankful for having found SW.com to supply me with the nylon webbing I need for utility use on my 17' jetboat.
But beyond that, I'd also like to say SW.com has proven to be one of the best companys I've found on the internet in terms of: Product Quality, Variety of Products, Information, Price & Service.
For these reasons, I always search SW.com first whenever I need something I think you might provide.
Sincerely, Bruce Oliver
