I got the 2" side release buckle first and it was harder to open. I am using them as closures for wool jackets I make out of military blankets I dye. so they are thick and essentially a boiled wool jacket. I adjusted the pattern for the 1.5 inch and it works much better, looks slicker and are easier to open. I love the colors and can match up pretty much to all my dyed wool colors. Making the jackets more modern and good for all ages. Ppl love them. If I could include a picture I would. If you had a spot to place one.....just saying....

Powder-coating doesn't hold up

The buckles themselves are excellent quality and I love using them on my dog collars! However, i recently tried the powder-coating option and was very disappointed. I got the pink powder-coated buckle, d-ring, and slide and they looked awesome when I got them. However, within a few days the power-coated began scratching off. It's not about a month and a half later than the powder-coated is nearly gone completely on the buckle. They are really pretty, but I would not recommend using the power-coating option on dog collars or anything with friction/scratching. Still love the plain buckles, though!

So I bought a 2 inch buckle to make a collar for a friends pitbull, needless to say Strapworks exceeded expectations! I never used metal on collars other than D-rings because most metal buckles etc. have been poor quality, but this one holds tight and looks perfect. She's so excited that I'm buying more of these and making different sizes. Personally I would recommend this product for collars.Thank you Strapworks (:

Love the look of these buckles. Nice rounded edges make for a good finished product. Only downside I've found are the teeth. They are very secure, however I use them on dog collars with reflective overlay and the teeth are sharp enough that they damage the overlay with only the slightest pressure. On plain webbing there would be no issue.

does not hold tight

I bought the 1-inch version to tie down my mtn bike in my truck. I apply about 25 lbs. They seem capable of a decent amount of weight but my nylon webbing slips through too easily. My current plastic buckles hold tight but I am nervous they will break eventually. Seems like the strap path needs to be redesigned to lock the webbing better.
RESPONSE: Please make sure the webbing is fed up through the inside slot and back down through the outside slot. Also, the webbing should hold in a horizontal dimension, if the webbing is pointing vertically it doesn't work the teeth well and could slip.
